Agriculture Infrastructure and Youth in Agribusiness Project (AIYAP)
Agricultural Infrastructure and Youth in Agribusiness Project is five-year (2017-2022) Project funded by African Development Fund (ADF). The goal of the project is to contribute to the national efforts of ensuring poverty reduction in Malawi by targeting 500 youth who will be trained in agriculture, entrepreneurship and agribusiness. The overall objective is to increase agricultural productivity and incomes of households in the project area. Specifically, the project aims to increase crop production and productivity, increase number of youths engaging in farming and agribusiness, increase household incomes from farming. AIYAP has four components namely: irrigation infrastructure and catchment management, value addition and youth entrepreneurship in Agriculture, agro-cooperative development for employability, project management and institutional strengthening. The project is being implemented Nkhotakota and Nkhatabay districts.
